Move to another country they said, it will be fun they said.
Months before, I moved to the UK and it was not a perfect experience as they said. I wanted to write this to let people know what is possibly waiting for you when you move to your dream country.
First of all, I need to say that I truly loved the UK. However, even in the UK, there are challenges that you will face. Therefore, I am writing this as a postgrad student and 22 years old female. Moreover, even though I write this as a Turkish-Bulgarian girl, I wanted to make it English to be able to help as many people as possible if I can.
One of the most challenging things is the change in the comfort zone. We mainly thing that it would be relaxing to go and explore new places and people but if it’s not for a holiday, you have to face that your environment will never be the same again. It is a true disaster. You get used to it with time, but time does not always go on that friendly because you are out of the world that you lived in for a long time. It will be challenging because the cultural changes, the expectations of the society, how do people act and react in here might come strange to you in the first place. Please do not expect to see the pure and traditional English culture in here. There are immigrants and people for the EU in everywhere and even more than British people in some places. The culture is so mixed and complicated. You may find people more or less friendly but believe me, you should be careful about the personal zone in here. It would be disturbing for people who live…
